Chimney Sweeping

Why Chimney Sweeping is So Important?

Chimney sweeping is a technical and detail-oriented process. It takes time and training to master- our technicians have that. We only employ the best at ARC Chimney Sweeps of Atlanta, GA. We feel it is our duty to help you keep your home and family safe.

According to the National Fire Protection Agency, all chimneys should be inspected at least once every year. Without inspections and subsequent cleaning or repair- you could be subject to dozens of hazards in your own home.

Any vented appliance in your home contributes to your chimney’s workload: the stove, fireplace, furnace, and anything else. Your chimney is essential to keeping harmful gasses and debris out of your home environment.

Over time, however, creosote and other substances can build up in your chimney. So your chimney needs to be cleaned. Neglecting to schedule a cleaning can lead to a chimney fire. Deadly and damaging, these fires may burn in excess of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, hot enough to melt metal.

A well trained chimney sweep (such as one of our professionals) will clean and restore a chimney to proper, and safe, working order.

This is a very important part of your annual home maintenance. In the long run, regular sweeping will make your home much more efficient as well as safe. You should be able to relax and enjoy any fire that you build in your fireplace.

What is expected of you before your appointment:

Please do not light a fire for 24 hours prior to your scheduled inspection or cleaning.

Please move furniture and valuable or fragile items 6-8 ft away from the fireplace.

What you can expect from each cleaning:

Each process is documented. Our thoroughly trained technicians will arrive and attend to everything in a professional manner. The process only takes about an hour.

The process begins with an inspection of visible chimney areas. The technician will be looking for cracks and other defects.
  • Ash will be swept from the firebox.
  • The chimney liner will be inspected.
  • The flue will be swept.
  • The smoke chamber and shelf will be thoroughly scrubbed by hand.
  • Fire hazards and places water could enter or affect your chimney are noted.
  • You are given a full report.

Simple, right? The process is painless and provides you with the benefit of knowing the exact condition your chimney is in as well as having it clean and functioning at optimum capacity.
